Hi everybody
I am working on a the project ubuntu-musique (french origin, french only website at the moment http://ubuntu.ttoine.net/wiki/), a sort of bundle of repository, meta-packages, scripts and documents. The aim is to ease the installation and configuration of a real-time kernell, softwares and stuff to musician who don't understand well Linux, but want to use it for making music.
One of the contributor tell me about your project, wich seem to be very user-friendly, much more than Ardour, for example.
I have two question for the jokosher developpers :
- is it possible to Jokosher to work with jack in real-time ?
- are you interested in adding a package of Jokosher for ubuntu dapper in our repository for testing purposes ??

Well I am no expert but it seems to me that if jokosher uses gstreamer then jokosher will not support jack until gstreamer supports jack and as of this moment it does not. AFAIK no one has been maintaining it.
I hope to see this happen too since jack is sort of the defacto for Linux DAW. |

As you probably know, Jokosher uses the GStreamer framework instead of pure Jack. This for various reasons including ease of use, distribution user base, and support for a number of different requirements.
GStreamer do have a jacksink, but I don't think it is currently maintained. |

OK, thanks for answers.
Another question for you to understand what Jokosher can do :
- Is it able to work in real time (near zero latence) with pro audio soind cards supported by Alsa ?

Thats the plan, and we are working to achieve this, as well as working closely with the GStreamer team. |

Thanks for answer, Jono.
Last question but not the less important, will Jokosher be able to manage big number of I/O cards, even if the card can not be managed by Gnome ?
For exemple with my RME Multiface sound card, 18 I/O, nothing appear in the Gnome-Volume-Manager, and so there is no way to control the card just with Gnome. I must launch a specific dedicated tool called "hdspmixer".
So the aim of my question is to know if Jokosher has a way to "patch" I/O and tracks as it is needed for mixing/recording.

PS : just want to precise that I am not a Jokosher user at the moment. _________________ Not only music in life, there's composing and stage too |
