Similar problem with PCLOS and Jokosher. Installed through package Mgr. perfectly but wwhen I attempt to start program the icon ni the bottom taskbar shows it starting up and then it just disappears.

Never had an install go wrong )pretty new to this) and assume it is crashing for whatever reason. Too bad because it looks like an interesting application. I can get by with AUDACITY but like trying somethign new once in a while.

Any (constructive) suggestions appreciated...

Hi All,

Just installed OpenSuSE 11 on a spare box and grabbed 0.9 from the Packman repository. At the same time, I updated my GStreamer components to the latest Packman versions (including python-gstreamer).

Unfortunately, jokosher does not start, even with safe mode. This is the output:

xxx@pankot:~> jokosher -s
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gst-0.10/gst/__init__.py:170: Warning: g_param_spec_internal: assertion `(name[0] >= 'A' && name[0] <= 'Z') || (name[0] >= 'a' && name[0] <= 'z')' failed
from _gst import *

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.

Removing the .gstreamer-0.10/registry.i686.bin does not change the behaviour.

If I remove the /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so file, then jokosher does start ok -= however, IIRC this file is needed for LADSPA effects to work, so it's not a very desirable solution.

I have checked that the /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so file is not corrupted.

Has anyone else tried jokosher on this distro? Ok, I know it's only been out a few days

Same with my system. Crashes very often on playback.
I see that Jokosher complains about a bunch of audio files missing.
That's because those audio files are no longer part of my project nor part of any my tracks. So I deleted them from the project and from the directory because they took up too much space. I don't believe that's the reason for the frequent crashers. Looks more like a memory leak in one of the python modules.

I just got this clever gadget so that I can do some recording. Recording broke on an earlier Ubuntu upgrade and I have not managed to fix it. The H4 was recognised as a USB sound card and I was able to select it in Jokosher. I managed to record myself, but unfortunately Jokosher kept falling over. I think I may still be on the original 0.9 build, but I don't think it was this bad when I last used it.

Is it worth trying the code from CVS or should I wait for 0.10? I could probably do some testing, but I'm more concerned with getting some recording done.

I'll keep an eye out for any Jokosher news.

RubberBand might be something. I haven't tested it and really don't know if it is something like Antares Auto-Tune. But anyway, it's a pitch shifter that's being implemented in other linux-audio software and as a LADSPA plugin.

Hey marcagio,
I suggest you just go ahead and try it. I'm recording up to four channels (while recording a drumkit) on an older Macbook and things work great. Your computer's speed will likely not be a problem as most of the heavy stuff is being done by the Saffire and just shoved over via Firewire, the question is whether your harddisk and RAM can cope with writing four channels simultaneously.
So, as I said, just try recording and see whether your machine can keep up.
charon

PS: Are you actually going to do this with Jokosher or are you just asking here?

Hi everyone... Just passing by, gathering some infos before actualy starting my project...

what I wanna do is very simple, only issue is that I don'T know if the computer I want to use will do the trick...

so... I have a Bondi Blue iMac with a G3 650Mhz and 396Mb ram and it's got firewire... so I was thinking of hooking it up to a Focusrite Saffire LE that I already have to record 4 simmultaneous inputs to 4 isolated tracks...

I have an amateur rock band, we've been practicing for some time but i'd like to track down our junk so we can hear it and know our weaknesses a little better...

I also might think of using it to produce a demo if everything goes well...

any help apreciated, thanks.

I've not played with Jokosher lately, but that's mainly due to not being able to record anything on my PC. Something broke in the Ubuntu Gutsy upgrade and I have not got around to fixing it yet.
